You Are Not Alone

  • Who’s on the other end of the Amala Youth Hopeline?
Youth volunteers (18–30) trained by mental health pros—there to listen, not judge.
  • What do they do?
They’re not therapists, but they get it. They provide peer-to-peer support that’s non-clinical, culturally aware, and always backed up by supervisors who can guide them if things get complicated.
  • What can I talk about?
School stress, anxiety, family stuff, identity, relationships, eating struggles, money worries—whatever’s on your mind.
  • You don’t have to go through it alone. Reach out—someone who understands is ready to listen.

For Youth by Youth

  • The Amala Youth Hopeline is a safe, judgment-free space where Muslim youth can find confidential peer support and resources.
  • Amala was founded by Muslim college students in California who saw the struggles around them and chose to act. After a tragic wave of six youth suicides in just two months in 2015, they created a place of hope, healing, and connection.
  • Our mission is to remind every Muslim youth that support is real, compassion is here, and hope always exists—for today and for the future.
  • We believe silence and isolation only deepen the struggle. Amala ensures every young person feels heard, seen, and supported through life’s challenges.
  • Amala is a program of MAS-Social Services Foundation (MAS-SSF), which also provides counseling, support groups, workshops, and resources for parents and children.
