Al-Afia for Seniors
Mission
Al-Afia is part of MAS-SSF’s efforts to prevent depression, anxiety, isolation, and feelings of helplessness associated with aging.
Launch
Since 2015, Al-Afia for Seniors Program has organized activities for Seniors and their families.
Senior Day
Senior Day consists of a four-hour program an educational workshop, lunch, and social activities.
Collaboration
MAS-SSF and MCF are collaborating on a pilot project to develop senior groups in mosques throughout Sacramento.
Services for Older Afghan Refugees
Introducing Al-Afia (Wellness) for Seniors Program – a haven of support, empowerment, and opportunities for older Afghan refugees.
Create Opportunities
Create opportunities that enable older Afghans to live independently as long as possible.
Promote Wellness
Promote the physical and mental health and wellness of older Afghan clients.
Promote Financial Stability
Promote the long-term financial stability of older Afghans to prolong healthy, independent living.
Eligibility
Afghan arrivals in the United States between July 31, 2021, to September 30, 2023, and the age of 60 and over.
